Extended Depth of Focus (EDF)
5. The nal menu for the EDF process is the alignment opons menu. Since there can be small variaons in
X- and Y- dimensions even when moving only the focusing knob (based on how a rack and pinion system is
machined when moving forcus can cause variaons), the auto alignment process aempts to correct for these
variaons to avoid a blurred image, or a misaligned image when stacking the images together.
As before, the menu has several notes as to this menu’s purpose and funcon, shown below.
Seng it to “None” will assume that the images are perfectly align and will not perform correcon processes.
Seng it to “Shi + Scale” will aempt to translate direconally as well as increase/decrease in size for best
alignment.
Seng it to “Shi + Scale + Rotate” will do the same as above, however, will also rotate the image if it was
rotaonally skewed during focus translaon of the stage.
When nished, press “Finish” to begin the soware processing of the image stack.
