4.12 Gain/Hue Menu
Push the Gain/Hue button (B) to switch to the gain and hue settings menu.
In the gain and hue settings menu the gain and the hue parameters are defined. Select the
respective item by turning the Select dial (Q), then press the Select dial (Q) once. The arrow
indicates the active item. By turning the Select dial (Q) you change the settings. Confirm your
settings by pressing the Select dial (Q) once.
Gain
In the gain menu the gain value is set. Gain is an electronic amplification of the video signal. This
means that the signal is boosted electronically to amplify the sensitivity and therefore brighten your
image. This increase is measured in decibels (dB).
Values range from 0-23.82 db
+6dB = equals one additional f-stop of light
+12dB = equals two additional f-stop of light
+18dB = equals three additional s-stop of light
+24dB = equals four additional f-stop of light
Hue
The hue menu lets you adjust the hue of the camera image to reduce unwanted color casts.
Values range from -128 - +128
4.13 Black Stretch / Flare Menu
4.13.1 Black Stretch
Push the Black Stretch button (C) to switch to the black stretch settings menu.
In the black stretch menu you can increase or decrease contrast in the shadow areas. Select the
respective item by turning the Select dial (Q), then press the Select dial (Q) once. The arrow
indicates the active item. By turning the Select dial (Q) you change the settings. Confirm your
settings by pressing the Select dial (Q) once.
Black Stretch
Increasing the black stretch brings out details and better definition in the shadows, but keeps the
absolute black to stay black. Adding some black stretch helps also to lift dark areas up in order to
put off possible noise in the black.
