Chapter 4 Electrical Overview and Panels
Best Practice Methods
General Wiring
In addition to properly grounding the system and separating high and low voltage utilities
implement the following wiring methods during installation to ensure proper system performance.
• Communication wiring between the Carriage and Building Panels MUST BE MINIMUM
CAT-5E stranded wire; otherwise PLC will not be able to communicate.
• All communication wiring must be isolated. Never run CAT-5E stranded communication
wire in the same conduit as 3-phase wiring or use extra CAT-5E stranded wire as a method
of wiring additional connections.
• Avoid parallel runs of 3 Phase and control wiring inside any enclosure.
• Do not use either the Building Panel or Carriage Panel as junction boxes. Do not bring
wires into these panels unless they are to be terminated in that panel.
• Do not use Cube® power or neutral wires as a method of powering items such as “Point
of Sales” or back room outlets.
• Do not use solid core wire for terminations within the Building or Carriage Panels.
• Make sure Euro cable connections are correct and verify shield and ground are connected
to ground terminal.
• Never install conduit or cord grips in the top of an enclosure.
• Re-tighten all wire connections approximately one week after installation. This time frame
should have allowed the system to experience vibration from standard operation and some
change in temperature. Doing so will ensure all connections are good.
REFER TO THE ELECTRICAL PRINTS FOR INSTALLATION DETAILS.
Cube® Carriage Electrical Cables
Route all the Cube® Carriage Electrical Cables from the Utility Manifold into the Equipment
Room and to the Carriage Panel.
If the Carriage Panel is over 42 feet away, then extend the cables using the cables and junction
box ordered from the Belanger® Aftermarket group. Refer to the parts list table earlier in this
chapter.
