Chapter 6 Frame and Carriage Assembly
Carriage Prep
Disengage the Roller Drive
It is recommended to disengage the Roller Drive before the Carriage is lifted and placed onto the
Frame Rails.
Disengaging the Roller Drive System on the Carriage will allow the Carriage to roll more freely
or “manually” on the Frame Rails. Once the Carriage is placed on the Rails it will need to be
rolled from end to end to verify the Rails are spaced properly. Also, the Cable Carrier will be laid
in the CAT Track Trough, secured in place, and confirmed that it moves properly with the
Carriage. Even though the Carriage can be moved “manually” or “electrically”, the tasks stated
above are easier to perform if the Carriage is in manual mode.
1) To disengage the Roller Drive, the Drive Shaft Couplings on both sides of the Carriage
Drive Shaft will need to be loosened and the Keys removed.
2) Using a 9/16” wrench, loosen the Coupling Bolts, but do not remove them, on both the
Drive Shaft Couplings.
