Chapter 6 Frame and Carriage Assembly
Carriage Placement on Frame Assembly: Overview
The Carriage is now ready to be placed onto the Rails. The Carriage Assembly arrives on the site
secured to a shipping frame. When lifting the Carriage Assembly, the forks must be placed under the
Carriage from the Entrance Side of the Carriage, as shown below.
Be sure to clamp the forks to the shipping frame before lifting.
There are two methods in which the Carriage can be placed on the Frame Rails and it depends on
the distance the Entrance Legs are from the entrance of the bay. The Preferred Method is used when
there is adequate space between the entrance door and Frame Legs to lift and load the Carriage
onto the Rails. The Alternate Method is used when there is limited space between the entrance door
and Frame Legs which requires an Entrance Rail to be removed temporarily to place the Carriage.
1) Measure the distance from the interior wall at the entrance of the bay to the front of the
Footplates on the Entrance Legs:
➢ If the measurement is greater than 68-1/4” then continue with the Carriage Placement
on Frame Assembly: Preferred Method on the following page.
OR
➢ If the measurement is less than 68-1/4” then skip to the next section, Carriage Placement
on Frame Assembly: Alternate Method.
