5.5.2 Insulation analysis – limited-time
modes t, PIor DAR
Mode t (time)
This test is implemented for a period defined by the
value t (refer to Section 5.1).
Mode PI (polarisation index)
PI is the ratio between the insulation resistance values
recorded after one minute and after ten minutes
(PI = 10-minute value / 1-minute value).
Mode DAR (– Dielectric Absorption Ratio)
DAR is the ratio between the insulation resistance
values recorded after 30 seconds and after 60 seconds
(DAR = 60-second value / 30-second value).
i During insulation analysis, the flashing on the
LCD indicates the application of a test voltage at the
probes.
i </OK> is only to be used for standard insulation
analysis ln5. Modes DAR, PI and t automatically
lock insulation analysis for the entire measurement
period.
Performing an insulation analysis - Mode t
1. Connect the measurement leads or the remote
sensor to the circuit to be tested.
2. Set the rotary switch to the desired position (fig. 2,
pos.11) (50V, 100V, 250V, 500V or 1kV).
3. Select mode "t" with <DAR/PI/t>.
i If the rotary switch is moved during insulation
analysis, the standard insulation analysis ln5 is
always set.
4. Press <TEST>.
The insulation resistance value is displayed on the
LCD in both analog and digital form, together with
the actual test voltage value.
The results are indicated on the LCD when <µA/s/V>
ispressed.
i In mode "t", insulation analysis is performed for the
period set in the SETUP menu. Press <TEST> or
</OK> to prematurely terminate insulation analysis.
5. The circuit is discharged on completion of insulation
analysis.
Performing an insulation analysis - Modes PI and DAR
Mode "PI" is implemented for a period of ten minutes.
The first test result is stored after one minute (t1).
Asecond test result is stored after ten minutes (t2).
The same procedure applies to "DAR" mode. In this
case the test duration is 60 seconds, with the first
result (t1) being recorded after 30 seconds and the
second after 60 seconds (t2).
i Do NOT press <DAR/PI/t> during insulation analysis,
as this would change the mode and delete the
current results.
1. Connect the measurement leads or the remote
sensor to the circuit to be tested.
2. Set the rotary switch to the desired position (fig. 2,
pos.11) (50 V, 100 V, 250 V, 500 V or 1 kV).
3. Select mode "PI" or "DAR" by pressing <DAR/PI/t>.
i If the rotary switch is moved during insulation
analysis, the standard insulation analysis ln5 is
always set.
4. To start insulation analysis mode "PI" or "DAR",
press <TEST>.
The insulation resistance value is displayed on
the LCD in both analog and digital form, together
with the actual test voltage value.
The results are indicated on the LCD when
<µA/s/V> ispressed.
i Press <TEST> or </OK> to prematurely terminate
the insulation test.
5. The circuit is discharged on completion of insulation
analysis.
