Operatingincoldweather
Coldweatherconditionsrequirespecicprocedures.Duringtheseconditionsyourmachinewillrequirespecialatten-
tiontopreventseriousdamage.Coldweathermaintenancewillextendtheservicelifeofthemachine.
Coldweatherincreasestheviscosityoftheoilinthehydraulicsystem.Coldoilcancausechangesintheoperational
characteristicsofthemachine,particularlyinmachinesequippedwiththeelectro-hydrauliccontrolsystem.Itisrec-
ommendedtowarmthemachinetosufcientoperatingtemperatureandtakecarewhenstartingandstopping,and
makingsteeringadjustmentsuntilyouarecomfortablewiththecontrols.
Allowextratimeduringcoldweathertobringthemachineandcomponentsuptooperatingtemperature.Runthe
enginebelow1500RPMuntiltheenginetemperaturerises.Oncetheenginetemperaturerises,throttletheengine
uptooperatingspeedandoperatethemachine.DONOTruntheengineatidlespeedforextendedperiods.
Batteryandelectricalsystem
Cleanthebatteryandmakesureitisatfullcharge.Inspectthebatterycablesandterminals.Cleanandspraythe
terminalswithbatteryterminalprotectortopreventcorrosion.
Afullychargedbatteryat-17°C(0°F)hasonly40%ofthenormalstartingpower.
Lubricants
Usethecorrectoilviscosityineachcomponentbasedonclimatecondition.Considerationforextremetemperatures
andthecorrectviscosityarerecommended.
Dieselfuelsystem
Verifywithyourfuelsupplierforthecorrectcoldweatherfuel.Dieselenginepowerwillbereducedifwaxparticles
areinthefuellter.Consultyourdealerforthebestfuelforthesemachines.
Coldtemperatureoperationcancausemoisturecondensationinthefueltank.Keepthefueltankfullandcheckfor
waterfrequently.

Coolingsystem
Keepthecoolantatthecorrectlevelinthereservoirandradiator.UseCASEAKCELAACTIFULL™OTEXTENDED
LIFECOOLANTpremix(50%concentrateand50%distilledwater).Thismixtureprotectstheenginecoolingsystem
to-35.0°C(-31.0°F).
