DuringtheDieselParticularFilter(DPF)regenerationprocesstheexhauststackandxedhoodarea
becomesextremelyhot.Allowareatocoolbeforeservicingorworkingneartheexhaustsystemcom-
ponents.
Failuretocomplycouldresultinminorormoderateinjury.

Onoccasion,themachinewillneedtobesafelyparkedandrunthroughaforcedregenerationtoclearhighlevelsof
ParticulateMatter(PM)intheDPFthatcannotbeclearedthroughnormalmachineoperatingcycles.
TheoperatormayNOTcontinuetooperatethemachinenormallyduringtheforcedregenerationprocess.
Duringtheforcedregenerationprocessanincreaseinenginenoiselevelmaybeobserved.
Duringtheforcedregenerationprocessaburningor“hot”odormaybepresent.
Theforcedregenerationprocesswilllastapproximately20minutesdependingonthePMlevelintheDPF.
Iftheforcedgenerationprocessisnotallowedthemachinewillbegintode-rate
.DamageorshortenedDPFlife
mayoccuriftheforcedregenerationisignoredforanextendedperiodoftime.
DPFregeneration—Forced
1.Operatorwillbenotiedwithoneofthefollowing:

Extendedaudiblealert,amberLEDandthe
DPFregenerationPARKsymbolwillappearon
thedisplayscreen.Indicatingahighlevelof
ParticulateMatter(PM)ispresentintheDPF
system.
•
Constantaudiblealert,red
LEDandthe
DPFregenerationPARKsymbolwillappear
onthedisplayscreen.Indicatinganextremely
highlevelofParticulateMatter(PM)ispresent
intheDPFsystem.

2.Calmlyndalocationoutofthewayonthejobsite
andclearawayfromanycombustiblematerial.Per-
formthefollowing:
A.PutthemachineinNeutral.
B.Engageparkingbrake.
C.Putboththehandandfootthrottlesintheiridle
position.
D.WaitfortheDPFregenerationSTARTsymbol
toappearonthedisplay.
NOTE:Changinganyoftheaboveconditionsduringthe
forcedregenerationprocesswillcausetheprocesstoFAIL.
