ble.Whenconnectingthebatteryterminals,connect
thepositive(+)cablerst;thenconnectthenegative
(-)cable.

Disconnectthebattery(bothterminals)beforewelding
onanypartofthemachine.Failuretodosomaycause
damagetosensitiveelectricalcomponents.Foraddi-
tionalweldingprecautions,refertopage7-9.

Whenusingauxiliarybatteriesorconnectingbooster
cablestostarttheengine,usetheprocedureshownin
thismanual.DONOTshortacrossterminals.
•
Whenworkingaroundstoragebatteries,rememberthat
alloftheexposedmetalpartsare“live”.Neverlay
ametalobjectacrosstheterminalsbecauseaspark,
shortcircuit,explosion,orpersonalinjurymayresult.

Frozenelectrolytecancausethebatterytoexplode.Do
notchargeafrozenbatteryoruseafrozenbatteryto
boosterstartthemachine.Alwayskeepthebatteryat
fullchargetopreventtheelectrolytefromfreezing.
•
Keepbatteriesoutofreachofchildrenandotherunau-
thorizedpersons.
•
Batteryposts,terminals,andrelatedaccessoriescon-
tainleadandleadcompounds.Washhandsafterhan-
dling.
