Purchasebiodieselfuelfromatrustedsupplierwho
understandstheproductandmaintainsacceptable
fuelquality.Itishighlyrecommendedthatyouuse
biodieselfromBQ9000accreditedsupplierstomaintain
thequalityandconsistencyofthefuel.TheBQ9000
QualityManagementProgramisaccreditedbytheNa-
tionalBiodieselBoardforproducersandmarketersof

TheuseofbiodieselblendsaboveB5throughB20will
notvoidtheCASECONSTRUCTIONwarrantyaslong
asthefollowingconditionsforbiodieselfuelhandlingand
maintenancearestringentlyfollowed:
Biodieselfuelmustbepre-blendedbythesupplier.Mixing
biodieselfuelson-sitecanresultinanincorrectmixture
thatcoulddamagetheengineand/orfuelsystem.
FormachinesusingTier4aengineswithanexhaust
aftertreatmentsystem:
1.IfthebiodieselblendstocktoASTMD6751-09Ais
used,specialprecautionsneedtobetakentoinsure
thatitfullycomplieswiththefollowingspecialrequire-
ments:

GroupIMetalscontent(Sodium+Potassium)is≤
5mg/kgperEN14538asspeciedinthebiodiesel
spec.
•
GroupIIMetalscontent(Calcium+Magnesium)is≤
5mg/kgperEN14538asspeciedinthebiodiesel
spec.
•
Phosphoruscontentlowerthanspeciedisa
mandatoryrequirement.Phosphorusmustnot
exceed4mg/kgperASTMD4951.
2.TheresultinggreaterthanB5throughB20blendmust
notexceed1mg/kgforGroupIMetals(Sodium+
Potassium)andforGroupIIMetals(Calcium+Mag-
nesium).
NOTICE:FormachinesusingTier4aengineswith

thebiodieselblendstockissuppliedtotheASTM
D6751-09Astandard,itisessentialthatevidenceof
compliancetothespeciallimitsforGroupIMetals,
GroupIIMetalsandthereducedphosphorus
contentspeciedabovebeobtainedonevery
deliveryoffuelfromthefuelsupplier.Failureto
complywiththisrequirementcanresultindamage
tothecatalystoftheaftertreatmentsystemwhich
willnotbecoveredunderwarranty.
NOTICE:CASECONSTRUCTIONmayvoidyourwar-
rantyiftheproblemisassociatedwithpoorfuelquality
duetoimproperblending.Itistheresponsibilityofthe
fuelsupplierand/oryourselftoensuretherighttypeof
fuelandblendisdeliveredandused.
Maintenanceintervals
Formachinesusingtheallelectronicengineswithahigh
pressurecommonrailfuelsystem,theengineoilandlter
changeintervalisreducedto250hwhenusingbiodiesel
blendsgreaterthanB5uptoB20.Pleaserefertothe
maintenanceintervalsspeciedintheOperatorManual
forallengines.
Checkallhoses,connectionsandgasketstoensurein-
tegrityandcleanlinessevery3monthsor150hoursof
operation,whichevercomesrst.
Regularoilsamplingishighlyrecommendedtomonitor
foroilandenginedeterioration.
NOTE:Oilsamplingkitsareavailablefromyourautho-
rizedCASECONSTRUCTIONdealer.
Whenswitchingbackfrombiodieseltoregular#2diesel,
allfuellter,oilandoilltershouldbechangedevenifthis
fallsbetweenroutineserviceintervals.
Storage
Themachineshouldnotbestoredformorethanthree
monthswithbiodieselinthefuelsystem.Forlongerstor-
agetime,itisstronglysuggestedthatonlyregular#2
dieselfuelisused.
NOTE:Ifstorageforlongerthan3monthsisnecessary,
theenginemustberunonregular#2dieselforaminimum
of20htoushthebiodieselfueloutofthefuelsystem
priortostorage.
Biodieselishighlyhygroscopicandtendstocollectwater
morethandieselfuel.Thisincreasestheriskofalgae
andbacteriagrowthwhichcancauseseveredamageto
thefuelinjectionsystem.Keepthemachinefueltanks
andon-sitestoragetanksasfullaspossibletolimitthe
amountofairandwatervaporsinsidethetank.Drain
waterfromthetanksatleastonceaweek.
NOTICE:DonotusebiocideadditivesonTier4aengines
withanexhaustaftertreatmentsystem.
