Section 8.1 Glossary
Amotosalen HCl The compound used in the INTERCEPT Blood
System with UVA light to crosslink genetic
material. The first time amotosalen is
mentioned in the text, it is referred to as
‘amotosalen HCl,’ and in subsequent
references ‘amotosalen’ is used.
CAD Compound Adsorption Device - This
component of the processing set reduces
levels of residual amotosalen as a step in the
INTERCEPT Blood System.

Donation Number The donation number from a blood product or
the number identifying a platelet pool.
Drawer
Illumination The process of exposing a blood product to
UVA light.

Technology.
Set ID (REF) INTERCEPT Product Code (REF).
Tray
Treatment Cycle The process of loading a processing set,
acquiring data from that set and initiating and
terminating the illumination step.
