Section 8.2 Summary of Operator Steps
This is a simplified list of the steps taken by the operator to perform an illumination
treatment. No notes, warnings or cautions are included. Refer to Chapter 4 for
detailed instructions including notes, warnings and cautions.
Turn On the
Illuminator
and Log In
Refer to Section 4.2 for details.
Perform the following to treat blood products in the illuminator.
Step Action
1. Press power switch, under the screen, to turn the
illuminator on. When the self-tests are complete, the
‘Enter’ function button will appear.
2. Press the ‘Enter’ button. The ‘Select a function’ screen will
appear.
3. Use the keypad to select ‘Enter Credentials’ and press the
‘Enter’ button. The ‘Enter username’ screen will appear.

Step Action
1. If you have a barcode for username, scan it. If a barcode
is not available, enter the username manually.
2. To enter your username manually, perform the following:
• Use keypad to enter your username.
• If username is correct, press ’Enter’ button.
• If username is incorrect, press the backspace ()
button on the keypad to delete the wrong
username. Re-enter correct username using the
keypad.
• If username is correct, press the ‘Enter’ button.
• Press the ‘OK’ button.
3. The ‘Enter password’ screen will appear. If you have a
barcode for password, scan it. If a barcode is not
available, enter the password manually and press the
‘Enter’ button. Press the ‘OK’ button.
4. The ‘Select an option’ screen will appear.
NOTE:
The illuminator installation configuration may not require password entry
after operator credential entry.
