If the two top status LEDs are green[1], the banknote re-
cycler is ready to process banknotes inserted into the in-
sertion slot[2]. In the acceptance unit[3] the banknotes
pass sensors checking their material, properties and di-
mensions. When the banknote properties do not corres-
pond to the properties of the banknotes programmed in this
recycler, the banknote is returned through this same
slot[2] while the two top status LEDs are flashing
green[1]. When the banknote properties accord with the
values programmed, the banknote is transported to either
one of the recycling units[4] or the cash box[5].
Depending on the individual recycler configuration, only
some instead of all banknotes of a currency are supposed
to be accepted. Some of them can be disabled and will not
be accepted. This configuration also determines which de-
nominations are to be directed to the recycling units or to
the cash box.
The acceptance unit can temporarily
store up to 15accepted banknotes of a
current transaction. The POS system
can thus decide on either returning
these banknotes or transporting them to
one of the recycling units or the cash
box following an appropriate command
depending on the recycler's change
stock for instance.
