1.1.1 Text Conventions
To make it easier for you to navigate this user guide and to operate the pay station, the following accentuations were
made in the text:
Safety instructions which you must observe in order to protect users and equipment.
Special notes intended to facilitate the use of the product.
At the beginning of each chapter you will find a short "guide" which summarizes the contents
of the chapter and provides links to subsections.
Requests to perform an action are given a bold and colored emphasis.
References to a figure: A number is the number of the item in the figure, a letter refers to the re-
levant work step in the figure.
In general, the pay station images are realistic in color. However, the pay station components
to be operated or moved during instructions are highlighted in orange just like their item num-
bers (see above). Arrows showing a work step are blue and so are the work steps letters (see
above).
Links to other chapters or sections are highlighted in blue. For user guide hard copies the
page number of the links is added in a small icon.
This user guide describes how to operate the pay station and handle the cash using the POSlinq™
middleware, which is available as an option and can be installed to provide communication with
your POS control unit software.
The check-out procedure as well as maintenance work thus can slightly differ from application to
application in terms of user interface and the interaction with it, whereas the consequent pay sta-
tion-related actions always remain the same.
