1000BASE-BX ETHERNET
Each processor on the CHAMP-AV8 is equipped with a 1000Base-BX Gigabit Ethernet interface.
These interfaces are routed to backplane connector P4 in accordance with ANSI/VITA 65.
Redrivers are supplied on the CHAMP-AV8 to allow link tuning.
USB AND SATA INTERFACES
USB Interfaces The CHAMP-AV8 has a total of three USB 2.0 interfaces. Each processor has a USB interface
routed to the VPX P6 connector, which is available through the USB/eSATA connector on
RTM6-462-000. Node A has an additional USB interface routed to the front panel connector
(air-cooled VPX6-462-A only). A current-limited USB power supply is provided for each
interface.
USB Port
Protection
Each USB port has input supply protection via a current-limiting switch with auto-reset. The
switch protects against both overload and short-circuit conditions to guarantee a 500 mA
maximum supply load for a high power port (5 unit loads), as specified in the USB Specification
Revision 2.0 (para. 7.2.1). Additionally, the switch generates a fault signal to notify the
system via the PCH when it detects a thermal overload (160 °C), current-limit, under-voltage
lockout, or short-circuit fault.
SATA Interfaces Each processor node provides a SATA interface to the P6 backplane connector.
RTM6-462-000 provides a USB/eSATA connector that allows external storage access to these
SATA interfaces.
