Asingle-pole,single-throwswitchismountedon
therightsideofthehousingatthefrontoftheice
maker.Thisswitchisusedtoturntheicemakeroff.
Unliketheswitchonthebailarmtheon/offswitch
willstoptheicemakerassoonasitispushed,
anditwillnotallowtheicemakertocompletethe
revolution.
Wiring
Afour-prongplugconnectstheicemakerwiringto
thecabinetwiringharness.(SeeFigureF3.)The
icemakerassemblyiswiredacrossthelineandwill
harvestineithertherefrigerationordefrostcycles.

The¼”tubing,andanyotherplumbingmaterials
required,shouldbeobtainedlocally.
Theicemakershouldbeconnectedtoafrequently
usedcoldwaterlinetoensureafreshwatersupply.
Section F - Ice Maker
NOTE
Averticalcoldwaterlineshouldbeselectedfor
thewatersupply.Ifaverticallineisnotavailable,
ahorizontallinemaybeused,providingthe
connectionisonthesideortopofthepipe,but
not on the bottom.Scaleandforeignmaterialin
thepipecouldcausestoppageofwaterowifthe
connectionisonthebottom.
Besuretoleaktestallconnectionsafterthewater
supplyhasbeenturnedon.
Test Cycling Ice Maker (See Ice
Maker Testing Procedures.
Itmaybenecessary,onoccasion,totest-cycle
anicemakertocheckitsoperation.Thiscanbe
doneontherepairbenchorwhilemountedinthe
refrigerator.
Iftheicemakerisinanoperatingrefrigerator,take
precautionsagainsttheformationofcondensate
byallowingthecold,metalcomponentstowarm
upbeforeremovingthefrontcover.Thiscanbe
expeditedbycyclingtheassemblywiththecoverin
placeandthewatersupplyvalveclosed.
Tomanuallycycletheicemaker,pushtheon
offswitchtotheonpositionthenpushinharder
againstthespringloadedsecondsetofcontacts
intheswitchandholdinuntiltheholdswitch
circuittothemotoriscompleted.Whenthemotor
starts,allcomponentsexcepttheicemaker
thermostatshouldperformnormally.Oncetheice
makercompletesitscycle,ifadditionaltestingis
necessaryyoucanyoucanpushinontheswitch
againtostarttheicemakerintoanothercycle.
Water Valve Switch – Water
Fill Volume
Theamountofwaterllisdirectlyproportionalto
thelengthoftimeterminals“C-NC”ofthewaterll
switchareclosed.Closingoccurswhentheswitch
plungerdropsintoacavityformedinthecam.
Differentwatervalveshavedifferentowrates.For
thisreason,anytimeawatervalveisreplaced,the
waterllmustbecheckedandthellswitchmust
beadjustedifneeded.
Thecorrectwaterllvolumeis80to100cc.To
measurethellvolume,test-cycletheIceMaker
andcollectthewater.Measureinacontainer
calibratedincubiccentimeters(CC)thelltime
is5.0seconds.
Thellvolumeisadjustedbyincreasingor
decreasingthelengthoftimethewaterllswitch
remainsclosed.
Toadjustthewaterllswitch,rstdeterminehow
muchwaterisneeded.Theadjustingscrewis
calibratedsothatonecompleterevolutionchanges
thewaterllabout18cubiccentimeters.Turning
thescrewclockwisedecreasesthell,whileturning
counterclockwiseincreasesthell.
