4.4 Autonomous Waypoint mode
4.4.1 Overview
Autonomous Waypoint mode enables flight beyond line of sight and communications range. Place
smart waypoints on the live-streamed 3D point cloud, and Hovermap plans and self-navigates a path to
safely complete its mission, even in GPS-denied environments.
4.4.2 Autonomous Waypoint functions
Tablet interface with tap commands for takeoff, waypoints placement, return to home, and
landing.
Smart return to home features
Multiple failsafes
Omnidirectional collision avoidance
GPS-denied position hold
Overrides pilot commands to keep the drone safe
Obstacle avoidance
4.4.3 Operational guide
4.4.3.1 Step 1: Drone inspection
Check the Velodyne sensor to make sure that it is clean and serviceable.
Securely mount Hovermap to the Zoe.
Ensure that the LiDAR sensor can rotate freely.
Connect the following:
The two Wi-Fi antennas
The power cable
The serial cable
