4.6.1 Hovermap failsafes
Hovermap has been engineered to operate autonomously when attached to a compatible drone or
ground vehicle. Hovermap can take these platforms into places that are unsafe, or where it is simply
not possible to go with other systems. The Hovermap system has been designed to be either within line
of sight, or completely without operator input and out of sight. As such, Hovermap provides a range of
operational smart failsafes to ensure safe and reliable operation. These include:
Low Battery RTH
Critical Battery Autolanding
Remote Controller Communications Loss RTH
Wi-Fi Communications Loss RTH
Heavy Dust Backtrack
SLAM Loss
LiDAR Error
Poor Waypoint
Each of the smart failsafes applies to different autonomy modes. Some are enabled in Pilot Assist
mode, some in Autonomous Waypoint mode, and some are enabled in both. The autonomy mode is
indicated in the description for each failsafe.
