Speed
Speed is a user-defined parameter for the speed that the drone will move to the set waypoint. You may
select a range of 0.5 mps to 2.0 mps (in 0.5 mps increments).
Minimum safe distance
Similar to VESH, which is used in Pilot Assist mode, the minimum safe distance is the safety buffer
around the drone. This distance is set and maintained by Hovermap, and is measured from the center
of the drone.
Rally points
When switching from Pilot Assist mode to Autonomous Waypoint mode, you will be prompted to set a
rally point. You may either accept or reject this prompt.
Figure 34 Rally point pop-up
A rally point is a location that is set to allow the drone to return and wait for further instructions. It is
the first destination to which the drone will return when it executes a return to home.
In the case of a pilot-initiated return to home, the drone will fly itself to this point and hover to await
further instruction. All other system failsafes are enabled.
In the case of a failsafe return to home, the drone will hover at the rally point for a short time, before
attempting to return to the takeoff location. This short wait time allows you to take control of the drone
if required.
A common use case is when using Mapping mode or Pilot Assist mode to fly through a narrow gap
before engaging Autonomous Waypoint mode. In this case, you will also need to fly the system back
through the gap after it executes the mission. Commonly, Hovermap may be executing the Low Battery
RTH failsafe, so having the drone stop at the rally point allows you to switch back to Pilot Assist mode
when it is in line of sight, and then fly to the home position in this mode.
