4.6.1.1 Low Battery RTH failsafe
Figure 44 Hovermap returning home
The Low Battery RTH failsafe is an advanced, fully autonomous function (no pilot input required) that
will bring the system back to the set mission home position. This position is set automatically when
Hovermap starts a scan.
During operations, Hovermap is continually monitoring the vehicle's battery system and comparing it
with the requirements of the return journey. The Low Battery RTH failsafe is triggered at a calculated
energy level. This allows the drone to return to home with 30% battery capacity remaining on arrival.
This sometimes means that the system will initiate a return to home much earlier than at 30% battery.
For instance, if the system is a long way from the home position, or has a complex return path (say in a
labyrinth of tunnels), the failsafe may trigger at a battery level of 40%, or even higher.
