Once Low Battery RTH is triggered, Hovermap takes control away from the pilot to fly the drone back to
its home position safely. The system will say “going home” as an audible warning, and will show Low
Battery - Going Home in the Hovermap status bar.
The calculated return path will appear in the Waypoint UI. The return path calculation is based on the
past trajectory of the system for the mission. This means that the system will follow the same track in
reverse to return to the home position. However, it may take a shortcut if it can “see” a clear path to the
home position, as shown in the figure above. Since the system cannot see any obstacles between its
current position and the home position, it will set a path directly to the home position.
There are two ways to abort the Low Battery RTH failsafe:
If Wi-Fi is available: Press the Pilot Assist button. This button is located in the Master Controls,
and the action will be confirmed by a secondary confirmation pop-up screen. With this action, no
further Low Battery RTH will be initiated by the system.
If Wi-Fi is not available: Double toggle the flight mode switch. Toggle the flight mode switch in
and out of the Hovermap mode. This will place the system in Pilot Assist mode for the remainder
of the flight.
Warning
You can abort the Low Battery RTH failsafe. However, if you do this, the failsafe
will not trigger again. You are now responsible for bringing the drone home
before it hits 15% battery capacity.
If the Low Battery RTH failsafe is aborted, the system will still conduct the Critical
Battery Autolanding failsafe at 15% battery capacity.
Note
The Low Battery RTH failsafe is not currently available during flights with GPS set
as the primary navigation method.
