Basic/Portable Mode 61
Appendix A
Basic/Portable Mode
Basic/Portable mode is a separate mode that you can put the CEM+ into when you initially begin the
configuration. It is a truncated menu structure focusing on the functions that touring rack and portable
pack users need most often allowing for quicker navigation and ease of configuration. To switch
between Basic/Portable Mode and Full Feature Mode, you need to start over with your configuration as
this choice can only be made while generating the default state of a CEM+.
This mode also brings some notable limitations with its simplicity of use. See the list below for general
features and limitations:
• Each dimmer can be modified to operate in “switched” or “normal” dimming modes.
• Face panel menu allows you to set the incoming power type to either single phase or three phase
power, depending on your physical incoming power setup.
• If Dimmer Doubling is selected, the whole rack is dimmer doubled.
• AF modules are able to be selected. However, AF functions are not enabled, such as: Load
recording, Load errors and so on.
• Patch mode is limited to a starting address and numbers the dimmers contiguously within the
rack.
• Basic/Portable mode is limited to DMX input port A and DMX B at the same start address only.
DMX B will pile on to DMX A if both are present.
• Basic/Portable mode turns off the web interface of the CEM+. All configuration is done via the
face panel.
• Panic and Preset functionality is turned off.
• EDMX and sACN are disabled.
Basic/Portable is intentionally limited in functionality for ease of use. If features are required that are
not available in this mode, Full Feature mode should be used.
