Using a Channel Strip to Control a Cart Machine11.10.2
This example demonstrates how to use a channel strip to control a cart machine. When
the channel is switched ON, the cart machine starts. When the fader is pulled below
-72dB, the cart machine re-cues. For the purposes of illustration, it is assumed that the
cart machine is patched into channels 1. The Cart-Start function is wired to the GP132’s
GPI relay output 3 and requires a tally “pulse” to activate. The Cart-Stop/Re-cue func-
tion is wired to GPI relay output 4 and requires a tally “pulse” to activate.
First, we must create an Event to start the cart when the channel is switched ON (see
Figure 11-6):
Touch the 1. Events Main Menu button to display the Events View.
In the 2. Event List area, touch the <Press to Add Event> eld. Type something
descriptive in the keyboard popup.
In the 3. Inputs area, touch the <Press to Add Input> and select Switch Input from
the Add Input Event popup.
Enter the following values:4.
Switch Function Channel
Switch State On
In the 5. Outputs area, touch the <Press to Add Output> eld and select GPO from
the Add Output Event Popup (see Figure 10-3).
Enter the following values: 6.
Output Number 3
Active State closed
Pulse Length (mS) 150
Machine GP132 One
Now, when channel 1 is turned ON, the cart machine starts. 7.
Next, we must create an Event to stop and re-cue the cart when the fader is pulled down
below -72dB (see Figure 11-7):
Touch the 1. Events Main Menu button to display the Events View.
In the 2. Event List area, touch <Press to Add Event> and type something descrip-
tive in the keyboard popup.
In the 3. Inputs area, touch the <Press to Add Input> and select Fader from the
Add Input Event popup.
Enter the following values:4.

Activation Level (dB) -72
