When changing the machining direction, the CNC changes the icon and shows the corresponding
help screen.
Finishing stocks in X-Z.
Either a single residual stock may be defined that is applied depending on the cutter's edge or 2
different ones, one for each axis (X, Z). It is selected with the following icon located in the finishing
area.
• The figure on the left applies a finishing stock depending on the cutter's edge. The finishing stock
is measured on the tool's cutting edge.
• The figure on the right lets define 2 finishing stocks, one per axis, regardless of the type of tool
used.
Roughing by segments in inside cycles
Two problems may occur when roughing inside profiles in the entire profile:
• It could be hard to remove the chips if the profile is very deep.
• Since the tool is long to reach the bottom of the profile, it could shake while machining.
With roughing by segments, there will be more room to remove the chips and shorter and a more
robust tools may be chosen to avoid vibrations.
In profiling cycles 1 and 2, roughing by segments on the Z axis is only possible inside and machining
penetration along the Z axis. A distance must be programmed in inside profiling, pattern repeat and
paraxial movements. The cycle adjusts the number of passes according to the programmed distance
and to the pass defined with the parameter "Dp".
The finishing pass is the same for all segments. If parameter Dp=0, there are no passes by
segments.
To enable this option, set the general machine parameter COCYPROF (P157)=1.
The machining direction (turning direction or facing direction) is defined with the following
icons. To select the desired type, place the cursor over this icon and press the two-color
key.
To select the type of finishing stocks, place the cursor over this icon and press the two-
color key. To define these residual stocks, place the cursor on the corresponding data,
key in the desired value and press [ENTER].
