3.11.1 Level 1. Profile definition
This mode may be used to define the profile by describing its theoretical corners. Up to 12 points
may be used in the cycle to define those corners. Point P1 is the profile starting point. The remaining
points must be correlative.
Use the [] [] keys to select and exit the window that contains the profile defining points and the
[] [] keys to define those points.
Coordinates of the first and last points.
The coordinates of each point are defined one by one. After placing the cursor on the coordinate
to be defined, the value is entered in one of the following ways.
• Entering the value manually. Key in the desired value and press [ENTER].
• Assign the current machine position.
Jog the axis with the handwheel or the JOG keys up to the desired point. Press [RECALL] so
the selected data assumes the value shown in the top right window and press [ENTER].
The top right window shows the tool position at all times.
Intermediate points.
The intermediate points are defined one by one. If a coordinate is left blank, the cycle will assume
that it is the same as that of the previous one. When not using all 12 definition points, the following
conditions must be met:
• The CNC does not take into account the type of machining of the last profile point.
• The first unused point must be defined with the same coordinates as the last point of the profile.
P10 must be set equal to P9 in the example of the figure above.
The coordinates of each point may also be defined incrementally. To do that, select the desired
coordinate with the cursor and press the two-color key. Both coordinates of the selected point will
be shown preceded by the "
" icon that indicates the incremental value with respect to the previous
point.
If defined... The CNC assumes...
X1 25.323 Z1 26.557 Point: X1 25.323 Z1 26.557
X2 Z2 78.998 Point: X2 25.323 Z2 78.998
X3 67.441 Z3 83.231 Point: X3 67.441 Z3 83.231
X4 Z4 Point: X4 67.441 Z4 83.231
X5 Z5 There are no more points, it is a repetition of the previous
point.
At all the intermediate points of the profile the type of machining required to be done on
the corner must be defined. To select the type of corner, place the cursor over this icon
and press the two-color key.
