ELECTRICAL MAGNETIC
Lock-Release
DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF PROTECTION AGAINST FAULTS IN THE POWER SUPPLY:
- Normal Operation (fail secure). The door unblocks when the lock-release is powered up. One of the benets is
that when there is a power cut the door does not unlock automatically. The lock-release's relay NO (normally open) terminal
is connected.
- Inverted Operation (fail safe). The door remains locked when the lock-release is powered up.
To unlock the power supply must be disconnected. When there is a power cut the door does not unlock automatically
(fire systems).
• DISTINGUISHED BASED ON THE TYPE OF SYSTEM:
- Electric Lock-Release: Recommended for systems where you want to combine a traditional lock which is
installed normally in the door frame. When the latch is activated it can be opened.
- Electromagnetic Lock-Release: Usually installed when there are re safety requirements: doors that open onto the building
exterior, power cut during fire alarm to facilitate evacuation. These are inverted types.
An iron plate is inserted on the door and an electromagnetic in the frame such that when the door is closed they are aligned.
The door remains closed as long as the electro-magnet attracts the plate. Depending on the strength of the magnet it may
be able to resist pushing and pulling from individuals trying to open the door. Normally the force is measured in Kg. It can be
assembled on the wall in special grids.
DISTINGUISHED BASED ON THE TYPE OF POWER SUPPLY:
- Continuous Current Power Supply. They are unique because they are silent. Lock-releases with inverted operation should
be of this type.
- Alternating Current Power Supply. These are noisy compared to the continuous version. They usually consume more
and operate better in doors subject to some form or pressure: wind, contact with bolts, etc.
OTHERS:
- There are lock-release models with an integrated door sensor to detect if the door is left open accidentally.
- Reinforced models recommended in heavy doors and frequent traffic.
This is the device which allows you to temporarily unlock the door in secure conditions:
either if an identifier is accepted or if the door is opened from inside using the exit button.
The various models are detailed below:
