SMS and UUS1 text messages
With this phone you can send and receive SMS or UUS1 messages (SMS - Short Message Service, UUS1 -
UsertoUserSignalling). Youcaninputatextmessageusingthekeypadonthephone. Theassignmentsfor
the keypad for entering letters, digits and special characters are described on page 12.
Sendingandreceivingoftextmessagesisonly possiblewhenthesenderhashis/hernumbertransmittedto
the receiving party, where it is also displayed. This is why text messages are not transmitted, or not dis
-
played on the telephone, when the phone number is not transmitted with the message.
Anincomingtextmessageissignaledbytwobriefacoustictonesinthephone. Ifthephoneisidle,thenum-
ber of messages received is displayed, along with information about these messages in the caller list.
SMS Text Messages (subject to terms of network provider)
SMS allows you to send andreceive text messages to/from other phones in a fixed-line network or to/from
cellphones.AnSMSisrestrictedto160characters, Upto4SMSmessageswith612characterscanbelinked
automatically. A softkey confirmation is required to switch from one SMS to the next.
Sending/Receiving of SMS messages is only possible:
•
Whenyouusethistelephonewitha systemtelephonypabxsystemthatsupportstheSMS feature.
•
Whenyou haveregisteredthis featureatyour network serviceprovider,or the providerofthe SMS
centerforyourISDNconnection.
•
Whenthephonenumberfor theSMScenterisstored inthetelephone.
Consult the provider of the SMS center that has been configured to establish inwhichnetworks (fixed-line
ormobilecommunicationnetwork)SMSmessagescanbesentandthecostsforsendingandreceivingSMS
messages. Thistelephonedoes notsupport thetransmissionofSMS messageswithspecial content(for ex

ample images, audio).
ThetelephonestoresallSMS messages youhavereceived orsentin twoseparate lists. Upto 10 sent and10
receivedSMSmessagescanbestored.Youcansaveamaximumof5linkedSMS(regardlessofwhetherthey
aredoubleor quadruple linked). Phones that do not support linked SMSs receivetheseas individual SMSS
messages.
Please not that freestorage space must beavailable toreceive SMS messages. You can notreceive anyfur

ther SMS text messages if you already have 10 SMS messages stored.
