Cardan shaft
The cardan shaft must bear the suitable safety markings
for the country (CE or other). It must always have its own
instructions sheet to be adhered to and the guard bearing
the marking must be wholly intact.
Assemble, operate and disconnect the cardan shaft
always according to information and safety standards
supplied for manual provided by the shaft manufac-
turer and delivered with the shaft itself.
In using the PTO shaft pay attention to:
1. Only the Cardan shaft supplied by the Manufacturer
must be used.
2. Frequently and periodically check the cardan shaft
guard. It must always be in an excellent condition
and wellwelded.
3. Always check carefully that the Cardan shaft guard
is always in position, both during trans-portation and
operation.
4. The engine must not be running when installing and
removing the Cardan shaft.
5. Care must be taken regarding the safety and correct
assembly of the Cardan shaft.
6. Before engaging the pto, ensure that there are no
persons or animals in the eld of action of the ma-
chine and that the selected running rate corresponds
to the permissible value. Never exceed the recom-
mended maximum rate.
7. Do not insert the power take-off with the engine off or
synchronized with the wheels.
8. Always disengage the pto when the cardan shaft is
set at an excessively open angle (never beyond 10
degrees - Pic.4) and when it is not in use.
9. Only clean and grease the Cardan shaft when the
power takeoff is disconnected, the engine is off , the
hand brake pulled and the key removed.
10. When not in use, place the Cardan shaft on the sup-
port provided for it.
11. After having dismantled the Cardan shaft, place the
protective cover on the power take-off shaft again.
12. Do not go close to the working area or rotating com-
ponents.
13. Avoid working clothes with belts, aps or parts that
might get hooked on. The contact with rotating com-
ponents may cause even deadly accidents.
14. Do not use the transmission as support or footboard.
15. Fasten the guard’s holding chains.
16. The best operating conditions are with the chain in
radial position with respect to the transmission.
17. Adjust the length of the chains so that the transmis-
sion may articulate in any operating, transport and
manoeuvre condition. Avoid excessive chain length
which might lead to them twisting around the trans-
mission.
18. Light up the transmission working area during instal-
lation and night-time use or in case of poor visibility.
19. The tractor label on the guard indicates the transmis-
sion connection side on the tractor side.
20. Any torque limiter or freewheel must be tted on the
operating machine side.
21. Never use the chains to transport or support the PTO
transmission.
22. Keep the transmission horizontal when transporting it
to prevent it from coming out and cause accidents or
damage the guard. Use adequate means of transport
depending on transmission weight.
