372 IBM z13s Technical Guide
The power requirements depend on the number of central processor complex (CPC) drawers,
and the number of I/O drawers, that are installed. Table 10-1 lists the maximum power
requirements for z13s servers.
These numbers assume the maximum memory configurations, all drawers are fully
populated, and all fanout cards installed. Use the Power Estimation tool to obtain a precise
indication for a particular configuration. For more information, see 10.4.1, “Power estimation
tool” on page 381.

10.1.3 Internal Battery Feature
The optional Internal Battery Feature (IBF) provides sustained system operations for a
relatively short time, enabling an orderly shutdown. In addition, an external uninterruptible
power supply system can be connected, enabling longer periods of sustained operation.
If the batteries are not older than three years and have been discharged regularly, the IBF is
capable of providing emergency power for the periods of time that are listed in Table 10-2.

Notes:
򐂰 Three-phase input power is available for all configurations.
򐂰 A balanced three-phase option is offered which BPRs per side depending on the configuration.
This option is available on all configurations that are not already balanced.
򐂰 DC input power is available on all configurations. There is no balanced power option for DC input.
A mix of AC and DC power on any system is not permitted.
򐂰 Power is shown as maximum values for worst case I/O configurations. Your actual power usage
will be something less than shown here.
