Procedure
Step 1. Prepare your server.
a. Remove the top cover. See “Remove the top cover” on page 225.
b. Remove the PCIe riser. See “Remove a PCIe riser” on page 183.
Step 2. Remove the PCIe adapter.
a.
Open the retention latch on the PCIe riser.
b.
Unfasten the screw that secures the PCIe adapter to the PCIe riser.
c.
Remove the PCIe adapter from the PCIe riser.

any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
Install a PCIe adapter
Follow instructions in this section to install a PCIe adapter.

you work safely.
Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the
server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.
