Procedure
Step 1. Prepare your server.
a. Remove the top cover. See “Remove the top cover” on page 225.
b. Remove the PCIe riser. See “Remove a PCIe riser” on page 183 .
Step 2. Remove the serial port module.
a.
Remove the serial port cable from the cable clip.
b.
Open the retention latch on the PCIe riser.
c.
Unfasten the screw that secures the serial port module to the PCIe riser.
d.
Remove the serial port module from the PCIe riser.

After you finish
• Install a replacement unit. See “Install the serial port module” on page 213.
• If you are instructed to return the component or optional device, follow all packaging instructions, and use
any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
