• If you are instructed to return the component or optional device, follow all packaging instructions, and use
any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
Install the 2.5-inch drive backplane
Follow instructions in this section to install the 2.5-inch drive backplane.
About this task
Attention:
• Read “Installation Guidelines” on page 121 and “Safety inspection checklist” on page 122 to ensure that
you work safely.
• Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the
server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.

Procedure
Step 1. Position the 2.5-inch drive backplane and the backplane module as illustrated below. Align the
square-shape guide slot on the drive backplane to the square-shape guide pin on backplane
module, and align the screw holes on backplane and the backplane module. Then, insert the
backplane into the backplane module.
Note: Make sure the backplane and backplane module position is arranged as illustrated below.

Step 2. Hold the backplane and the backplane module together; then, turn them over as illustrated below.
Fasten the two screws to secure the backplane to the backplane module.
