Chapter 4: Lubricating the Machine
4.1 Greasing Procedure
DANGER
To avoid bodily injury or death from the unexpected start-up or fall of a raised machine, shut down the engine, remove
the key, and engage the safety props before going under the machine.
1. Shut down the engine, and remove the key from
the ignition.
2. If the header is raised, engage the header safety props.

3. Wipe grease fitting with a clean cloth before greasing to
avoid injecting dirt and grit.
4. Inject grease through fitting with grease gun until grease
overflows fitting, except where noted.
5. Leave excess grease on fitting to keep out dirt.
6. Replace any loose or broken fittings immediately.
7. If fitting will not take grease, remove and clean thoroughly.
Also clean lubricant passageway. Replace fitting if
necessary.
