Install First Crawler (continued)
14. Swing 180° (View A) to other side of crane before
handling second crawler.
15. Lift crawler drive shaft (4, View B) off storage bracket (5),
extend shaft, and align holes in drive shaft flanges (6
and 7, View C).
16. Apply Never-Seez™ or an equivalent anti-seizing
compound to treads and under heads of flange screws
(8, View C).
17. Insert flange screws (8) and torque to 75 ft-lb (102 N•m).
18. Slide drive shaft guard (9) over drive shaft and pin to
carbody (View D).
19. Connect hydraulic hoses (Figure 4-12
, View C):
(11) to coupler (11a)
(12) to coupler (12a)
(13) to coupler (13a)
20. Connect grease hose (14, Figure 4-12
, View C) to
coupler (14a, View A).
Install Second Crawler
See Figure 4-14 for the following procedure.
1. Repeat Install First Crawler steps 2 through 13 and 15
through 20 for second crawler.
2. Lower carbody until crawlers are on ground and then
fully retract jacks.
3. Remove chains (1, View F) from between crawler pads
(2) and crawler lugs (3) (four places each crawler). Store
for future use.
4. Remove jack pads and store (Figure 4-7
, View C).
5. Position each carbody jack as follows:
a. Remove connecting pin (Figure 4-7
, View B).
b. Swing jacks in (Figure 4-7
, View A) and install
connecting pin.

WARNING
Rotating Drive Shaft Hazard!
Crawler drive shaft rotates at high speed.
Make sure crawler drive shaft is securely attached at
both ends.
Make sure guards are in place and securely attached
at both ends during operation.
Do not attempt to service drive shaft until the crane
has been parked and engine stopped.
WARNING
Overload Hazard!
Swing crane 180° to opposite side before handling the
second crawler. The second crawler cannot be lifted over
the same side as the first crawler without overloading the
jacks.
Tipping Hazard!
Do not allow assembly block to swing past inside edges of
carbody jacks while installing second crawler. Crane will
tip.
