Section 12: Diesel Fuel Requirements
DIESEL FUEL - SULFUR CONTENT
Tier 3/Stage IIIA Engines: Use diesel fuel with sulfur content less than 5,000 ppm or (5000 mg/kg).
Diesel fuel with a sulfur content of less than 1,000 ppm (1000 mg/kg) is strongly recommended.
Contact your engine dealer if local fuel supplies have a sulfur content greater than 5,000 ppm (5000
mg/kg).
Tier 4 Final/Stage IV engines: Use only ultra low sulfur diesel (ULSD) fuel, with sulfur content
15 ppm (15 mg/kg), or less. Use of fuels other than what is specified in the engine manual will impact
engine performance, damage engine emissions systems and may result in engine and exhaust system
warranty being voided.
