50-14 Operating the Vacuum Excavator VX30/VX50 Gen3/ECO50 Vacuum Excavators
Unplugging Vacuum Hose
Reverse flow is used to unclog hoses if a clog occurs, or to remove debris from the spoil
tank.
Step 1: When vacuuming, se
t Reverse Flow Control (1) to Vacuum position.
Step 2: If a clog occurs, close Gate/Inlet valve to
the obstructed hose on spoil tank or
boom, if equipped.
Step 3: Mov
e Reverse Flow Control to Pressure position.
Step 4: A
llow system pressure to build until Relief valve discharges (approximately
5 psi/500 kPa).
Step 5: Ens
ure hose is positioned in safe direction to discharge obstruction or spoil.
Step 6: Open Gate/Inlet
valve to the obstructed hose.
Step 7: Repeat abo
ve steps as needed.
Step 8: On
ce obstruction is relieved and air flow is reestablished, return Reverse Flow Control to Vacuum
position.
If system is still obstructed, refer to “Boom Cleanout Cover - Remove/Check for Clogs,” p
age 60-51, to check
boom for obstruction. If is
sues still exist, contact your Vermeer dealer.
