Sample Tube
Prior to creating the Sample Tube file, perform a blank analysis using the default sample tube. The data
obtained from this analysis will be used in the Sample Tube file. Refer to Blank Analysis, page 3-28
for details on running a blank analysis. The values from the blank analysis can be used to replace the
parameters in the new Sample Tube file.
The settings in the sample tube file are used for calculations only if the free space method is Calculate.
The settings come from a previous blank analysis with the sample tube that is being used for the cur-
rent sample analysis.
1. Go to File > Open > Sample Tube.
2. Enter a name in the File name text box. Click Open.
3. Click OK to create the new file.
4. Enter a description of the sample tube in the Sample Tube text box, for example, the serial
number of the sample tube and/or size.
5. If using calculated free space, enter the warm free space, cold free space and non-ideality factor;
or click Load from Sample File to import the information from an existing sample information
file.
6. Select if an isothermal jacket and/or filler rod was used in the blank analysis run.
7. Indicate the vacuum seal type.
8. Click Save, then click Close. The file saves with a .STB file extension.
