ProcedureSteps
1ConnectaserialcabletoalaptoporPCrunningtheCSSapplication,andtheserialconnectorlocatedonthe
device'smodule.TheserialcableisanRS232cable.ThisisaDB-9straightthroughserialcable(femaleDB-9
tomaleDB-9).Ifthelaptopdoesnothaveaserialport,useaUSBtoserialconverterexternaldevice.
2OpentheCSSapplication.
3SelectTools→ConnectionCongurationfromthemenu.
Stepresult:TheConnectionScreendialogboxappears.
4SelectSerialontheConnectionTypeeld.
Stepresult:TheSerialSettingsonthedialogboxbecomeenabled.
5SelectthecommunicationportintheSerialPorteldthatmatchestheoneselectedonthePC.
6IntheBaudRateeld,selectthebaudratewithwhichyouwanttocommunicatewiththedevice.

Alogin/passwordpromptscreenopens.Providetherequiredcredentialsasfollows.ClickOK.When
accessingthedevice,ifthedefaultpasswordsdonotwork,thepasswordsmayhavebeensettodefault
valuesbyadifferentsystemreleaseofsoftware.See"ResettingDevicePasswords"intheCSSOnline
Helptoresetthepasswordstothecurrentsoftwarereleasedefaults.IfAuthenticationServicesarenot
enabledonadevice,typeanyalphanumericcharacterstopopulatethe[Username,Password,and
ElevatedPrivilegesPassword]elds,astheycannotbeleftblank.
