TheSoftwareDownload(SWDL)isanapplicationthatcantransferonly,installonly,ortransferandinstallnew
softwaretodevices.ThenewsoftwarecanbeinstalledeitherlocallyatasiteorontheNetworkManagement
subsystem.Individualdevicesnotconnectedtothesystemcanbedownloadedusingsingledevicemode.
Datatransfercanbeperformedby:
•ClearSWDL–transferoperationswithoutsecurity,basedontheFile-TransferProtocol(FTP)
•SecureSWDL–transferoperationsareencrypted,basedontheSecureFile-TransferProtocol(SFTP)
SWDLprovisionsthecredentialsforSecureSWDLaspartofinitiatingtheSWDLoperation.Nouser
interventionisrequired.Forasingledevice,SecureorClearSWDLisconguredbytheuserbasedonthe
SWDLTransferModecongurationwithintheCSS.UniedNetworkCongurator(UNC)canbeusedto
scheduleandcongurealldevicesinthesystematonce.
Beforeinitiatingtransfer,SWDLconnectstothesiteinthezonetodiscoveralldevices.Thetransfermode
ofalldevicesisdisplayedintheSWDLwindow.ItisimportantthatalldeviceshavethesameSWDL
transfermode.Otherwise,theSWDLagsamismatchoftheSWDLtransfermodesacrosssitedevices.
