2.1FunctionsoftheGTR8000BaseRadioModules
ThefollowinglistsGTR8000BaseRadiomodules:
•Transceiver(XCVR)module(withorwithouttransceiveroptioncard)
•Powerampliermodule(notapplicableinaGPW8000Receiver)
•Fanmodule
•Powersupplymodule
2.1.1FunctionoftheTransceiverModule
Thetransceivermoduleprovidesthecontrol,exciter,receiver,andoptionaltransceiveroptioncardforthebase
radio/receiver.

Thetransceivergeneratesthestationreference,whichtypicallyneedstobelockedontooneofmanypossible
externalsources.TheexternalsourcecanbeeitherthesitecontrollerTDMclocksortheexternalreference
operatingat5or10MHz.Aninternalfrequencyreferenceoperatingat10MHzisavailableinanoptional
transceiveroptioncard.
ThetransceiverSPIbusallowscommunicationwithitsreceiverandexcitercircuitry,aswellasthepowersupply
andpowerampliermodules.
Therearetwoorthreecircuitboardsinthetransceiver:
•TransceiverControlBoard:Performsthecontrolmanagement,digitalsignalprocessing,andtransmitand
receivedataformattingforthebaseradio.
