Generalconnectivity
problems
1.Ifyouhaveaccesstotheequipment,checktheLEDstoverifythateach
pieceofequipmentisconnectedandoperational.See10.1LEDs,page10-1.
2.InCSS,checktheconditionofthebaseradioandallassociateddevices
andlinks.
3.VerifythecongurationofthebaseradiothroughCSS.V erifythattheIP
addressforthebaseradioiscorrect.InCSS,sendadiagnosticcommandto
enablethebaseradio.
4.VerifythattheDNSHostnameforthebaseradioiscorrect.IftheDNS
Hostnamewasincorrectandthencorrected,furthercorrectionsmaybe
neededontheDNSserver,UNC,andUEM.SeetheTroubleshooting
chapterintheAuthenticationServicesmanual.
5.Verifythatthephysicalcablingisrmlyconnectedandingoodcondition.
Checkforanysharpbendsorkinksincabling.Testsuspectedcabling
fornoise,continuity,attenuation,andcrosstalk.Replacethecablingif
necessary.
6.Runping,traceroute,pathping,andothernetworkadministrationcommands
toidentifyanylinkorintermediatedevices(switchorrouters)withhigh
latencyorconnectionproblems.
7.Iftheconnectionfailstooperatenormally,sendarestartcommandto
thebaseradiothroughCSS.Considercyclingpowertothebaseradio
ifnecessary.
8.Ifthebaseradiostillfailstooperateproperly,createabackupofthecurrent
conguration,thenreinstallthesoftwareandrecongurethebaseradio.
9.Replacethebaseradioifnecessary.
Devicewillnotpowerup1.Ifyouhaveaccesstotheequipment,checktheLEDstodeterminewhich
equipmentisconnectedandoperational.See10.1LEDs,page10-1.
2.InCSS,checkthealarmsforthebaseradio.
3.Checkthepowercablingandverifythatthepowersourceforthebaseradio
issupplyingtheappropriatevoltage.Tryconnectingthebaseradioto
anotherpowersourceorreplacethepowercablingifnecessary.
