ExciterFailureVerifythatanantennarelaythatisEnabledeitherintheUNCorCSSmayhavebeen
disconnected.Thiscausesthebaseradiotogenerateanexciterfailurebecausethe
antennarelayiscontrolledandmonitoredthroughtheexcitermodule.However,the
exciterfailureshouldbeignoreduntilaftertheantennarelayfailureiscorrected.

Inamixedmodeconguration,withhybridlinks,andwhenanaloglinkmonitortone
isenabled(AnalogLinkIdleCheckisenabledintheCSS),thebaseradiodetects
alinkfailurewhentheanaloglinkmonitortoneandcallactivityareabsentonthe
receiveline(WL1).AnalogIdleLinkCheckintheCSSshouldbedisabledwhen
comparatortypeisASTRO-TACwithDIGI-TACorASTRO-TACwithMLC8000.
Whenthesefailureconditionsaremet,thebaseradiowill:
1.Loganoccurrenceofthefailureinthebaseradioslocaleventlog,whichis
retrievablethroughthecongurationinterface.
2.Ifconnectedtocentralizedfaultmanagementequipment(optional)thenthe
baseradiotransmitsanalarmindicationtothefaultmanagertoalertthe
systemadministratorofthefailure.
3.Alocalvisualindicationisactiveduetothisfailure.
Recoveryofthelinkfailureresultsinasimilarsetofactionstoindicatethatthe
failureeventcleared.Notethatafailureofthetransportlineorafailureofthe
opposinghostonthewirelinelinkwillbothappeartothebaseradioasalinkfailure.
Thebaseradiocannotdistinguishbetweenthesetwocases.

Inamixedmodeconguration,withhybridlinks,thebaseradiodetectsaV .24link
failurewhenpacketactivityisabsentforaperiodoftimeontheoutboundtransmit
line.Whenthesefailureconditionsaremet,thebaseradiowill:
1.Loganoccurrenceofthefailureinthebaseradioslocaleventlog,whichis
retrievablethroughthecongurationinterface.
2.Ifconnectedtocentralizedfaultmanagementequipment(optional)thenthe
baseradiotransmitsanalarmindicationtothefaultmanagertoalertthe
systemadministratorofthefailure.
3.Alocalvisualindicationisactiveduetothisfailure.
4.Invokeafailureannouncementforthe4-wirelinkbecausetheactivityon
the4-wirelinkisdrivenbycontrolsignalingontheV .24link.4-wirelink
cannotbeusedwhentheV .24linkisdown.
