TheexciterontheXCVRRFboardprovidesthetransmitterfunctionsforthebaseradio.Theexcitercircuitry
generatesalow-level,modulatedRFsignalthatpassestothepoweramplier.Itsupportsvariousmodulationtypes
aswellasbandwidthsupto25kHz,throughsoftwareprogramming.
Theexciteralsoprovidesacontrolledoutputpowerleveltothepoweramplier.
TheExciterispresentinaGPW8000Receiverbut,ispowereddowntosaveenergy.

Thereceiverprovideseithersinglereceiverinputordual(HPDorTDMA)receiverinputsfordualdiversity.The
receiveralsoprovidesenhanceddiagnosticcapabilitiesusinganonboardnoisesourcegenerator.Itincludes
awidetuningrange(electronicvaractor-tuned)preselector.Thepreselectoriselectronicallytunedtothedesired
receivefrequencyanywherebetween792–825MHz,UHFR1380–435MHz,UHFR2435–524MHz,orVHF
136–174MHz.
