TheGTR8000BaseRadioisavailablefor25kHzoperationin700and800MHzfrequencybands.
1.4OverviewForaGTR8000BaseRadioinaTrunked
IPSimulcastSubsystem
Thebaseradiocapturesinboundsignalsthroughexternalreceive(Rx)antennasfromthesubscriber/mobileradios
andthenamplies,ltersanddemodulatesthesignalsintovoicepacketswhichareforwardedtoacomparator.The
comparatorprocessesthereceivedvoicepacketsforaparticularcallandforwardsthebestqualityvoicepacketsto
thezonecore,whichroutesthemtotheassociatedbaseradioateachremotesite.Atapredeterminedtime,allofthe
baseradiostransmitthevoicepacketssimultaneouslyonthesamefrequencytocompletethecommunication.
Amaximumof30baseradioscanbeinstalledperremotesite.EachbaseradiohasanEthernetconnectiontoa
switchatthesitefortheNetworkManagementinterface.

Single-SiteRepeaterConguration
ThiscongurationconsistsofstandaloneGTR8000BaseRadiosandstandaloneGCP8000SiteControllersin
asingle-siterepeaterconguration,orcanbeusedinamulti-sitesystemtoprovideasystemmigrationstepthat
enablesreplacementofPSC9600SiteControllersorbaseradiosotherthantheGTR8000BaseRadios.Thebase
radiosmaybecolocatedwiththesitecontrollers,orbeseparated(non-colocated)fromthesitecontrollers.
Thiscongurationcanonlybeusedinnon-votingcongurations.
SupportisprovidedonlyforFDMAwhenthebaseradiosarephysicallyseparatedfromandnotcolocatedwiththe
sitecontrollers.TDMArequirestheuseofafrequencyreferenceandtimingreferencethatcanonlybeprovided
throughthesitecontrollersCP3links,whichcannotbeextendedtonon-colocatedbaseradioswhenthedistance
exceedsthenotedlimits.Thiscongurationissupportedonlyonrepeatersites.
AnEthernetcableisusedtoextendthesitecontrollerssignaltotherstnon-colocatedbaseradiothroughthesite
controllersNetAUXportintothebaseradiosSC-Aport.ThesitecontrollersNetAUXportmustbeenabledand
conguredusingtheCSSfor100/FULL(speedandduplex).Whenthedistancebetweenthesitecontrollersandthe
rstnon-colocatedbaseradioexceeds328ft.(100m),anexternalHP2610orHP262024-portEthernetLAN
switchmustbeusedtoextendthesitecontrollerssignal.Whenthereareadditionalnon-colocatedbaseradiosand
thosebaseradiosaremorethan328ft.(100m)fromthepreviousnon-colocatedbaseradio,additionalEthernet
LANswitchesarerequiredtocontinuetoextendthesitecontroller’ssignal.SeeFigure1-2.
