ThesitecontrollerreceivesdigitizeddatapayloadandcontrolpacketsfromtheRNGandroutesthemtoaspecied
baseradio.Thebaseradioextractsthecontrolinstructionsfromthepacketsandusesthemforinternalmanagement
suchaschannelfrequencyassignment.Thebaseradiomapsthedigitaldatapacketstodiscreetvoltagelevelswhich
arethenusedtomodulateanRFcarrier.ThemodulatedRFcarrierisampliedandmaybecombinedwithotherRF
channels,lteredandroutedtothetransmission(Tx)antenna(s).
Therstfourbaseradiosatthesitearedenedashomechannelcapable.Settingsforthebaseradioaremade
throughUniedNetworkCongurator(UNC)andConguration/ServiceSoftware(CSS).
Besidesthepowersupplymodulesupportingthetransceiverandpowerampliermodules,itcanalsoprovide
auxiliarypowertoaconnectedsitecontrollerorreceivemulticoupler/lownoiseamplier(RMC/LNA).
TheHPDbaseradioprovidesafull-duplexRFinterfacetoHPDMobileSubscriberUnits(MSUs).TheHPDbase
radiosareavailablefor25kHzHPDoperationinthe700or800MHzbands.UptoveHPDbaseradiosmaybe
installedatthesite.EachbaseradiohasanEthernetconnectiontobothofthesitecontrollermodulesatthesite.
TheHPDbaseradiousesRadioLinkAdaptation(RLA)toprovidehigh-speed,reliable,enhanceddataperformance
whencommunicatingtrafcwithMSUs.RLAusesadaptivemodulationtechniques,withslowerandmorereliable
modulationforcontrolsignalingandretries,andfastermodulationmethodswhentrafcissuccessfullybeing
deliveredbetweenthebaseradioandMSUs.
TheHPDbaseradioisimplementedwith2Xreceiverdiversity.Thisreceiverdiversityenhancestheinboundsignals
fromtheMSUsonthechannel.
