4-9. Smart Roaming
This is a function to regularly scan wireless channels for smooth connection to a wireless LAN access point
for a moving client (slave).
When radio intensity with AP-1decreased, scanning
for all chanels is started in the background.
A channel for roaming
is selected.

■ Smart Roaming for 802.11a
When a client (slave) moves from an area of an access point AP-1 to that of AP-2 and a Electric Field
Strength radio intensity decreases (to about 9 or less), scanning of received channels is automatically
started and a channel for roaming is selected.
If no channel is found that is better in communication quality than the current channel, scanning is restarted
for all channels.
Caution
If both of "802.11a" and "802.11b/g" are selected, scanning is made for total 802.11a/b/g.
■ Scanning Frequency
As WE70 can use 802.11a/b/g, frequency to be scanned depends on WE70-CL setup. ("802.11a":Max
24CH, "802.11b/g":Max 13CH (Refer to Section 1-1))
Scanning is started when communication quality with WE70-AP gets worsened.
Note
When performance of smart roaming switching time is required,
combine WE70-AP and WE70-CL.
