5.4 Use of zone sets and switching of zone sets
A zone set must include a safety zone and it can include a max. of two warning zones.
Each zone can include any number of geometrical shapes.
Each machine state can be assigned a signal at the control inputs or a combination of sig-
nals at the control inputs. Each assignment is assigned a zone set. The zone set is always
active whose control input signal/combination of signals is present.
Therefore, a change of signals at the control inputs triggers a change of the active zone set.
When a machine has different operating statuses, a safety laser scanner can be used to
monitor several operating statuses.
When using several zone sets, the monitoring of a zone set can be switched to the monitor-
ing of the next zone set. The configurable inputs must be used as switches.
The standard behaviour when switching the zone sets does not provide for an overlap of
the zone sets.

5.5 Automatic and monitored start/restart
Automatic start/restart
When the safety laser scanner is switched on or when the safety zone is re-released, the
safety laser scanner starts automatically and the OSSDs switch to the ON state under
these conditions:
} Both OSSDs are wired correctly and
} No fault has occurred and
} The safety zone is free.
If the safety zone is violated, the OSSDs switch to the OFF state.
Monitored manual start/restart
The OSSDs switch to the ON state during operation under the following conditions:
} Both OSSDs are wired correctly and
} No fault has occurred and
} The safety zone is free and
} At least 80 ms have elapsed since switching to the OFF state and
} The start button has been operated and then released again for a min. 0.5 s and a max.
4.5 s. The start occurs with a falling edge.
If the start button was operated for a shorter or longer period, no start occurs.
It is not possible to use start/restart to bring a safety laser scanner to normal operation
when it has been in an error state.
