9. Inspect roller bearing torsion spring for cracking and
fatigue.
NOTE
Torsion spring should not be removed from ring gear
unless it is being replaced. Removal may result in
spring deformation.
10. Use a flat head screwdriver to remove retaining ring
(B) from output cover.
11. Remove spacer washer (D), armature plate (E), and
rubber O-ring from output cover.
12. Inspect armature plate for a consistent wear pattern.
Uneven wear of armature plate indicates a warped
plate, which may cause intermittent operation.
