Smart Cal
The Smart Cal feature allows the operator to continually calibrate and refine the seed system cal weight(s)
during seeding operations by monitoring a bin load cell and the calculated amount of seed or product applied in
the field. To use the Smart Cal feature during a field operation:
Note: The vehicle must be at a complete stop to begin or end the Smart Cal feature. While calibration is
in progress, do not add product to the air cart bins or manually adjust the cal weight value.
1. Fill the seeder bin with the desired amount of product.
Note: While not required, it is recommended to cover at least 20 acres [8.1 ha] ensure a sufficient weight
for the calibration sample. More accurate calibration results may be obtained by covering larger
areas when using the Smart Cal feature. A manual catch test will be required if the calibration error
is greater than 10%.
2. With the job in progress on the Viper Pro, touch within the Application Rates area to access the Application
Control prompt.
3. Touch the Start Calibration button for the desired product control channel.
4. Begin seeding operations as normal. The smart cal feature will monitor the load cell and calculated product
applied during the operation.
5. Before refilling the bin, access the Application Control prompt and touch the Stop Cal button. The field
computer will calculate the adjusted cal weight based upon the current system information. Touch Accept to
set the new cal weight or Cancel to end the smart cal feature without entering the calculated cal weight.
