8.1 PROFIenergy
PROFIenergy is a vendor-neutral pro󹪝le de󹪝ned by Pro󹪝bus & Pro󹪝net International (PI).
PROFIenergy lays the foundations for a universal system for 󹪞exible, short-term, and intelligent
shutdown of individual consumers or whole production units.
Requirements
• 3RW5 PROFINET Standard communication module from 󹪝rmware version V1.0.1 or 3RW5
PROFINET High Feature communication module
• 3RW50 and 3RW55 Failsafe soft starters from 󹪝rmware version V1.0 or 3RW52 and 3RW55
soft starters from 󹪝rmware version V2.0
• Basic knowledge of handling PROFIenergy and the PROFIenergy commands
Classi󹪝cation of the PROFIenergy commands
PROFIenergy (PE), for example, supports the following groups of commands:
• Command for querying the PROFIenergy functional scope (Page 84)
• Commands for the PROFIenergy energy saving function (Page 84)
The PE energy saving function supports the targeted switching o󹪜 of loads during idle times.
• Commands for PROFIenergy measured value function (Page 88)
The PE measured value function supplies the measured values required for optimizing
energy consumption.
Supported PROFIenergy commands
The 3RW5 soft starters support 2 groups of the PROFIenergy commands for the motor current.
The 3RW5 PROFINET communication module transfers the PROFIenergy data set 0x80A0 to the
3RW5 soft starter. The commands contained in the data set trigger reactions in the 3RW5 soft
starter and provide information on the status of the 3RW5 soft starter according to the
PROFIenergy de󹪝nition. You can evaluate and further process the commands in the user
program.
